Junior Fitness Squad – Reset & Re-Engage Programme

The Reset & Re-Engage Programme provides specialist alternative provision for young people who need a different approach to education, engagement and personal development. Delivered by Junior Fitness Squad, the programme uses sport, mentoring and relationship-based support to help young people rebuild confidence, improve wellbeing and reconnect with learning. The programme is designed for young people who may be experiencing barriers within mainstream education, including challenges with attendance, behaviour, confidence, motivation, emotional regulation or engagement. Through structured sessions, young people develop: Confidence and self-esteem Communication and teamwork skills Positive relationships Resilience and emotional regulation Physical wellbeing Life skills and personal responsibility Improved engagement with education The programme combines: ⚽ Sport and physical activity – using football and other activities as a tool to motivate, engage and develop young people. 🧠 Mentoring support – helping young people understand their strengths, overcome barriers and develop positive goals. 🎯 Personal development – building routines, confidence, accountability and transferable skills. 🤝 Relationship-based support – creating a safe, positive environment where young people feel valued and supported. Sessions are delivered in small groups by experienced coaches and mentors with backgrounds in youth development, education and football coaching. Each placement is personalised around the needs of the young person, with clear objectives agreed with schools, families and commissioners. Progress can be monitored through attendance, engagement, behaviour and personal development outcomes. The aim of the Reset & Re-Engage Programme is to provide young people with the opportunity to reset, rebuild confidence and re-engage with education and future opportunities.

Referral Process

Referrals are accepted from schools, local authorities, families and professionals. Following referral, an initial discussion takes place to understand the young person’s needs, agree outcomes and confirm suitability before placement begins.

Safeguarding and Welfare of Children

Junior Fitness Squad places safeguarding and the welfare of young people at the centre of everything we do. The Reset & Re-Engage Programme operates with clear safeguarding policies, procedures and professional standards to ensure all young people are supported in a safe, positive and inclusive environment. All staff working with young people are appropriately recruited, DBS checked and trained in safeguarding procedures. Staff receive regular updates and are familiar with reporting processes, professional boundaries and their responsibilities in protecting children and young people. We work closely with schools, families and external professionals to ensure concerns are communicated appropriately and that young people receive the support they need. Sessions take place in safe, controlled environments with appropriate supervision, risk assessments and clear expectations around behaviour, respect and safeguarding.
