Find yourself at a loss when looking for alternative education services nearby? With so many local directories in so many varieties of formats, barely updated and often inaccessible, find alternative provision where you need it can be incredibly difficult.
What’s more, understanding the different types of alternative provision can be incredibly difficult – are the registered? Are they not? How can I be assured of their quality? Where would I even start?
At APFinder, we have searched high and low (and continue to do so!) to bring as many alternative provisions under one roof as possible. We believe we are now the UK’s Largest National Alternative Provision directory, a title we are proud to use (even if it is self awarded!).
We allow alternative provisions to add and manage their own listings, encourage outreach and expert services to list and even provide space for National and Online organisations who may be able to offer something new and different.
Our hope is to give schools and other commissioners the best start in deciding where to go to meet the needs of their young people and our aim is to give as much information as possible as early as possible to support commissioners to quality assure provisions and help provisions to get themselves ready to be quality assured!
Our inclusion of outreach providers builds on the latest guidance on alternative provision and our managed listing use the national voluntary standards as a framework for showcasing the alternative provision. We know that alternative education providers work hard to build something really special – we want to give them the best chance to show that off and give commissioners the greatest opportunity to see what the provision is all about.
The AP landscape is an ever changing but very exciting one, and we hope to be here to support it as it develops. So when you next find yourself asking where is the alternative provision near me, please come and give us a visit and find out!
